To dress up: بهترین لباس رو پوشیدن ، شیک و پیک کردن

Definition: to waer formal clothes, to dress very nicely

Example: We should definitely dress up to go the theater. = 

ما باید برای رفتن به تئاتر قطعا بهترین لباس خود را بپوشیم

Example: Youn don't have to  dress up for Mike's party. =

مجبور نیستی برای مهمانی مایک بهترین لباس خود را بپوشید

 At last: سرانجام، بالاخره

SYN: finally,after a long time

Example: We waited for hours and then the train arrived at last. =

.ما ساعت ها منتظر ماندیم و بالاخره قطار رسید

Example: Now that I am sixteen, at last I can drive my parent's car =

الان که من شانزده سال دارم،بالاخره میتونم با ماشین والدینم رانندگی کنم.

 As usual : طبق معمول،مثل همیشه

Definition: as is general case, as is typical

Example: Goerge is late for class as usual. This seems to happen every day. = 

جورج طبق معمول برای کلاس دیر می کند. به نظر میرسد این کار هر روز اتفاق می افتد.

Example: As usual, Dora received first prize in the swimming contest. It's the third consecutive year that she has won.

طبق معمول <دورا> جایزه اول مسابقات شنا را برنده شد. این سومین سال متوالی است که او برنده می شود.

To find out:فهمیدن، دریافتن،پی بردن

Definition: get information about, to determine.

Note: This idiom is seperable only when a pronoun is used, as the second example.

Example: Will you please try to find out what time the airplane arrives? =

لطفا میتوانید برای من بپرسید که چه ساعتی هواپیما میرسد؟

Example: I'll call right now to find it out: همین الان تلفن میزنم تا موضوع را بفهمم

نکته: در مثال دوم همان گونه که در تکته اشاره شد به دلیل وجود ضمیر ، ضمیر میتواند مابین فعل باشد و به صورت جدا از هم نوشته شود.

To look for: نگاه کردن

Definition: give one's attention to; to watch

Example: The teacher told us to look at the board and not at out books. =

.معلم به ما گفت که به تخته سیاه نگاه کنیم نه به کتابهایمان

Example: I like to walk along a country road at night and look at the stars.=

دوست دارم تا شب در امتداد یک جاده در بیرون شهر قدم بزنم و به ستاره ها نگاه کنم

to look for: جستجو کردن،دنبال چیزی گشتن 

Definition: to try to find,to search for

Note: An adverb phrase such as all over can be put between the verb and proposition, as in the second example.However, the idiom cannot be seprated by a noun or pronoun.

Example: He's spent over an hour looking for the pen that he lost.

او پیش از یک ساعت به دنبال مدادی گشت که گم کرده بود.

Example: There you are! We've looked all over for you.

شما آنجائید! همه جارو به دنبال شما گشتیم

all right: صحیح،بسیار خوب، بی عیب

SYN: acceptable,fine; yes.okay.

Note: This idiom can also be spelled alright in informal usage.

Example: He said that it would be all right to wait in her office until she returned.

او گفت که بسیار خوب است در دفتر کارش منتطر بمانیم تا برگردد.

Example: Do you want me to turn off the TV? Alright, if you insist.

آیا از من می خواهید تلویزیون را خاموش کنم؟ اگر اصرار دارید، بسیار خوب.

نکته: این اصطلاح میتواند در موقعیت های غیررسمی به صورت alright نیز نوشته شود.

all along: در تمام مدت، سراسر

Definition: All the time,from the begining (without cahnge).

Example: she knew all along that we'd never agree with his plan. =

او تمام مدت میدانست که هرگز به برنامه او موافقت نخواهیم کرد.

Example: Did you know all along that I'd give you a birthday present, or were you suprized? =

آیا تمام مدت میدانستی که به شما هدیه تولدت را میدهم، یا شگفت زده شدی؟

Little by little: بتدریج، کم کم

SYN: gradually,slowly

Also: step by step

Example: Karen's health seems to be improving little by little. =

به نظر می رسد که وضعیت سلامتی کارن رو به بهبودی است.

Example: If you study reguraly each day,step by step, your vocabulary will increase.

اگر بطور منظم هر روز مطالعه کنی ، کم کم دامنه لغات انگلیسی تان افزایش خواهد یافت.

To tire out: خسته کردن ، بی رمق کردن

Definition: to make very weary due to difficult condition or hard effort.

Also: to wear out

Example: The hot weather tired out the runners in the marathon. =

آب و هوای گرم، دوندگان ماراتون را بسیار خسته کرد.

Example: Does studying for final exam wear you out? it make me feel worn out !

آیا درس خواندن برای امتحانات نهایی شمارا بسیار خسته می کند؟ امتحانات باعث می شود که من خیلی خسته شوم!

To spend time: وقت صرف کردن

Definition: to do an activity over a period of time

Example: Adrian would rather spend time watching TV than doing homework. = 

ادریان بیشتر برای تماشای تلویزیون وقت می گذارد تا  انجام دادن تکالیفش.

Example: I spent too much time getting ready this morning, so I was late for work. =

من امروز برای اینکه آماده شوم وقت زیادی صرف کردم. از این رو دیر به محل کار رسیدم.

  never mind: مهم نیست،عیب ندارد،نگران نباش

Definition: Don't be concered about it; ignore what was just said

Example: When he spilled his drink on my coat, I said, "never mind" it needs to be cleaned anyway".=

وقتی اون نوشیدنی اش را روی کت من ریخت، گفتم : مهم نیست در هر صورت لازم بود تمیز شود.

Example: So you weren't listening to me  again. never mind; it wasn't importantt.=

پس شما دوباره به من گوش نمی دادید اهمیتی نداره مهم نبود.
