The next Galaxy Note could come with a gigantic battery, if fresh rumours concerning Samsung's next smart phone are to be believed.

The Note 3 will pack a 3,450mAh battery, PhoneArena reports, citing an anonymous source who claims to have "seen the engineering sample of the phablet first hand".

While it's always worth taking unconfirmed rumours with a liberal sprinkling of salt, that high-capacity battery may not be too outlandish -- the Note 2 has a 3,100mAh battery and the 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega has a 3,200mAh unit.

Modern smart phones are infamous for their inability to last more than a day without needing to suck on their charging cables, so the prospect of beefier battery tech is certainly a tempting one.

That said, Samsung is likely to pack a tonne of high-powered tech into the Note 3, including what's sure to be a massive, high-resolution display and possibly the new Exynos 5 Octa processor -- all of which will put plenty of strain on the battery.

Elsewhere a DLNA certification for what's tipped to be the Note 3 has surfaced, SamMobile reports, suggesting that the third in Samsung's series of super-sized smart phones will arrive running Android 4.3.

Android 4.3 brings minor changes such as multiple user profiles and autocomplete when you type in phone numbers, as well as behind-the-scenes tech including support for the latest OpenGL graphics.
